BEACHES AROUND MARMARI

Marmari is located on the west coast of southern Evia (Petalioi Bay). In direct connection to the village there are many beaches of slightly varying character. Together they have an excellent water quality, all have blue flags. The normally northwesterly wind that blows in summer (Meltemi) causes crystal clear clean and relatively cool water. I have chosen to present only the beaches that are within walking distance of Marmari. Making a presentation of the hundreds found in southern Evia is a bit too extensive...

Quite small but fantastic beach and a bottom with small round marble stones. Is completely protected from the North-West wind. A paradise for snorkeling with dramatic rock formations on the bottom and rich underwater life. Excellent place for spearfishing. The beach is 3 km south of Marmari (approx 25-35min. walk)

Large sandy beach that stretches out into the sea. Exposed to all winds and strong currents causing it to continuously change shape! Perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach is located 2 km south of Marmari (approx 20-25min. walk). In the spring of 2020, the Greek National Tourist Office (GNTO) made a promotional video for Greece that they filmed at Megali Ammo! and which was launched for Greece worldwide. Visit Greece

Long sandy beach located 1 km north of Marmari (approx 15-20 min. walk). There are 2 small cozy beach bars that sells refreshments, plays music, have a small number of sunbeds (free if you buy something) and beach volleyball. Trees grow all along the beach so you can always find a shady spot. Protected from North-West wind. Perfect for families with children.

FYGIAS BEACH

Very long sandy beach, shallow and with very fine sand. On this beach there are three tavernas. The beach is 2 km north of Marmari. Here, too, there are plenty of trees for a shady spot and it is well protected from the Meltemi wind.

Kavos Beach

Long sandy beach located very close to the village, 100 m north of the harbor but still outside the harbor basin. Perfect for a morning dip when living in the village. All along the beach there are trees that provide shade.
