ABOUT MARMARIVISIT

Im an environmental engineer from Sweden. I moved permanently to Greece in 1998 and since then I have worked with water treatment throughout Greece. My job has meant that during the more than 20 years I have lived here, I have traveled a lot all over Greece. What struck me early was that there is an enormous diversity and variety in the Greek environment, in many different areas: nature, climate, culture, politics (well) and economics. What is quite common throughout Greece, however, is hospitality and curiosity about other people and cultures. It is more the rule than the exception to get involved in deep discussions about everything possible (but especially politics) with completely casual acquaintances.

It also struck me early on that in the tourist resorts, which I also often visit for work, you often do not get to experience the diversity. It is in a way genuinely Greek environment (of course, since the tourism industry is Greece's largest industry), a pleasant, usually hospitable environment but often a little uniform and stylized. Often the focus is also only on sun and bath, which is a shame as there is so much more.

A thought began to sprout, that it would be fun to share this more diverse and natural Greece with small groups of people interested in experiencing it, possibly combined with tailor-made activities as desired.

Thetake also became very clear when I moved permanently from Athens to Marmari. All of a sudden, I live in an incredibly multifaceted environment where everything is outside the cottage corner... an imaginative untouched nature, stunning beaches, privacy for contemplation, immeasurable proximity to local living street life and Athens' metropolitan rhythm! Something completely different from many islands that have lived for decades exclusively on tourism and when I visit them in the winter I find neither food nor hotels....

So I thought this is what I'm trying to develop. Tailor-made, personal trips with family accommodation for small acquaintance  groups or interest groups of 6 to 10 people.   Eventually combined with professionally arranged or self-arranged activities. Or just for holidays. Trips where you live and participate in a genuine Greek community that does not have only tourism as income. Trips that also respect and care for the environment and nature. In case of special needs for own activities (e.g. large premises) it can be conveyed. Minimum length of stay, normally 1 week and the accommodation includes main cleaning and preparation of shared breakfast and dinner. Meals are not all-inclusive but are prepared personally and decided by the group or on suggestion. The livings are all newly renovated and equipped with A.C. and wifi
